{LEAD} John Michael ``Mike'' Walker, 52, died June 17, 1994, of cardiac arrest.

Mr. Walker, a native of Norfolk, was a retired geologist from DuPont and a graduate of Old Dominion University. He was a unique person with many talents who had an unusual closeness and knowledge of nature. Loving and sensitive, he was a wonderful son, brother, husband and father.

{REST} Survivors include his wife, Terry Leff Walker of Beaumont, Tex.; a son, Erik Michael Walker of Austin, Tex.; two daughters, Julie Christine Walker and Ariel Lindsey Walker, both of Beaumont, Tex.; his parents, retired Cmdr. William J. ``Jeff'' Walker and Frances N. ``Nita'' Walker, both of Norfolk; a brother, Dr. William J. Walker Jr. of Lovettsville, Va.; and a sister, Cheryl Brumfield of Virginia Beach, Va.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Talbot Park Baptist Church in Norfolk by the Rev. Tim Dixon. Broussard Funeral Home in Texas is handling the arrangements.
