SIX OF 10 PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL GET NEW PRINCIPALS

{LEAD} Six of Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County's 10 public schools will have new principals next year after a major top-level staff shuffle reported to the Board of Education.

The cycle begins with the transfer of Pasquotank Elementary Principal Rita Collie to the central office.

{REST} Under the title ``director of testing and accountability,'' Collie will oversee district testing and monitor school progress.

Replacing Collie at Pasquotank will be Cecil Perry, principal of Central Elementary. Shel Davis, current principal at Sheep-Harney Elementary, will move into the Central gap.

The school system will look outside the district for a new Sheep-Harney principal, schools spokesman Charles White said Tuesday.

Two other schools, Weeksville and H.L. Trigg elementary schools, will trade principals. Georgetta Jackson will move to H.L. Trigg, and Walter ``Buck'' Jolly will shift to Weeksville, White said.

The district has yet to appoint a replacement for outgoing Northeastern High School Principal Eugene Yarbrough. The school board is holding a special meeting tonight, when that post could be filled, officials said. by CNB
