Mr. Jones was born in Norfolk County. He had retired from Seaboard Railroad. He was the widower of Doretha Jones and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Pughsville.
{REST} Survivors include five daughters, Geraldine Barlow, Josephine Sumler, Margaret Wolfe, Janice DeLoatch and Peggy Rountree; a son, John E. Jones Jr.; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Hope Baptist Church, Pughsville, by Dr. William E. Russell. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Family will be at 3400 St. Clair Drive, Chesapeake, residence of the daughter, Mrs. Margaret Wolfe.
