CHARLIE ASKEW

{LEAD} Charlie Askew, 79, of Wilson Parkway died June 21, 1994.

Mr. Askew was retired from the city of Portsmouth.

{REST} Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Askew; five daughters, Shirley Braver, Vernelle Evans, Nancy Conyer, Diane Askew and Annette Askew; a son, James Royster; a brother, Leroy Taylor; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at New 1st Baptist Church Taylorsville by the Rev. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family will be at the residence.
