ANNIE B. JOHNSON

{LEAD} Annie Nell Brett Johnson, 76, of the 600 block of North West St., a retired telephone operator, died June 22, 1994, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Hertford County, N.C. She had retired from Carolina Telephone Co. She was the widow of Herbert Minton Johnson and was a member of Creech Memorial Baptist Church. She was a 1937 graduate of Murfreesboro High School and a member of Ahokie Eastern Star Chapter 291.

{REST} Survivors include a sister-in-law, Rockie Lee Brett of Murfreesboro, N.C.; a niece, Kathie Koonce of Emerald Isle, N.C.; and a nephew, Stan Brett of Murfreesboro.

The funeral will be conducted at 2p.m. Saturday in Garrett Funeral Home by Dr. Jesse J. Croom and the Rev. Robert May. Burial will be in Meherrin Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and will assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday.
