ALVANIA C. SPELLER

{LEAD} Alvania Cherry Speller, 68, of the 4500 block of Newport Ave., a homemaker, died June 21, 1994, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Speller was born in Windsor, N.C. She was a former member of Goodwill Baptist Church.

{REST} Survivors include her husband, James A. Speller; six daughters, Patricia A. Taylor, Pansie Taylor, Nettie Sutton, Gloria Jones, Gwen Dunston and Joyce Lewis, all of Norfolk; five sons, James B. Speller of Virginia Beach and Roy C. Speller, Bobby A. Speller, McArthur Speller and Paul D. Speller, all of Norfolk; four sisters, Fancie White, Inez Cherry, Mamie R. White, all of North Carolina, and Eva Lois Simons of Philadelphia; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Nettie H. Cherry and Arthur Cherry.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. James Edwards. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family will be at her residence.
