TOWN RECEIVING GRANT

{LEAD} A poor, rural village in Accomack County will receive a $1 million state grant to upgrade housing.

State Sen. Thomas Norment said Witham's Crossroads in northern Accomack County won the grant in the first round of competition for 1994 Virginia community development block grants.

{REST} The state Department of Housing and Community Development administers the program. The money will be used to rehabilitate 25 housing units and build 30 homes. The grant will help about 84 people.
