FALCON CABLE TO CUT RATES SLIGHTLY, ON FCC ORDER

{LEAD} Falcon Cable TV said Thursday that it will slightly cut rates starting July 14 for its 42,500 subscribers in Suffolk and on Virginia's Eastern Shore and North Carolina's Outer Banks.

Falcon said rates for ``complete basic'' cable in Suffolk will drop from $20.91 to $20.57 a month and that a-la-carte channels - those that are priced separately from the basic package - will go from 95 cents to 75 cents per channel per month.

{REST} Rates for Falcon's 20 systems on the Eastern Shore range widely, but also will fall: for example, in Belle Haven, from $26.30 to $24.98 for ``basic cable and tier'' services combined; in Cape Charles, from $23.14 to $22.14 a month for basic cable and tier; and in Chincoteague, from $23.67 to $22.17 a month for basic cable and tier. Prices for a-la-carte channels will also fall for some systems on the Eastern Shore, the company said.

On the Outer Banks, where Falcon has nine systems, basic rates will remain the same, but the monthly prices for a-la-carte channels will drop from $1.25 to 75 cents each.

The rate reductions are the result of a new set of cable regulations by the Federal Communications Commission.
