BUSINESSMAN NAMED RECTOR OF ODU BOARD

{LEAD} Norfolk businessman Arthur Diamonstein was unanimously elected rector of Old Dominion University's Board of Visitors on Thursday.

``You have an amazing group of people,'' said Diamonstein, president and chief executive officer of Paramount Industrial Companies, which make King Koil Sleep Products. ``We can make some history in the years to come.''

{REST} Diamonstein was elected to a two-year term as leader of the board.

``I think Arthur is a very good choice because he knows nearly everyone,'' ODU's president, James V. Koch, said. ``He will especially help us develop the east side of Hampton Boulevard.''

Old Dominion has proposed a $25 million expansion project, which could include a 20,000-seat arena and a row of fraternity houses.
