VOTERS, NOT WARNER, SHOULD DECIDE

{LEAD} It is surprising and disappointing that a so-called good and loyal Republican, John Warner, has come out so strongly against another Republican, Ollie North. Warner was quoted as saying he couldn't support North or serve with him if elected.

This sounds very hypocritical. He now serves with Ted Kennedy, who was expelled from college for cheating, lied to the public about Chappaquiddick and is immoral; with President Clinton, a draft-dodging war protester who is immoral; and Chuck Robb, who has admitted to being immoral. What about his associates in the other body of Congress - the Jim Wrights, the Dan Rostenkowskis, etc.?

{REST} Whether or not you like North, he was nominated by a fair-and-square Republican convention, and lots of folks think he will do a good job of shaking up the inbred Washington bureaucrats for the better.

North's lying to Congress to protect his superiors doesn't seem so bad compared to Senator Warner's past and present associates in Washington with all of their shenanigans.

The people of Virginia should decide their representatives, not John Warner.
