HELEN S. JOHNSON

{LEAD} Helen Sumner Johnson, 65, died Thursday, June 23, 1994, at a Norfolk hospital.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Baltimore and was a member of the Baptist Church in Elizabeth City. She was the daughter of the late Robert Sumner Jr. and Eula Scott Sumner of Elizabeth City, and the wife of the late Floyd Bentley Johnson.

{REST} Besides her mother, Mrs. Johnson is survived by six daughters, Diana Jo Burton of Virginia Beach, Debbie J. Burgess and Donnie J. Hurley, both of Kitty Hawk, Dale J. Young of Killingsworth, Conn., Durisa J. Bain of Sanford N.C., and Denise F. Johnson of Kill Devil Hills; one brother, Robert Sumner Jr. of Lady Lake, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ryan K. Young. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Debbie J. Burgess, 889 Emeline Lane, Kitty Hawk. Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina, 5970 Fairview Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28210.
