BLUEFINS SCARCE AS SEAS TURN ROUGH; BLACK DRUM BOATED

{LEAD} Bluefin tuna once again played hard-to-get with weekend anglers in Virginia as many fishermen were forced to remain in port because of blustery winds and rough seas.

However Michael St. Clair of Williamsburg took the lead in the annual Virginia Salt Water Fishing Tournament with a 137-pound bluefish Sunday out of Oyster on the charter Bucanneer, skippered by Jim Jenrette.

{REST} Recent catches have included the season's first Virginia tarpon, a 74-pounder caught by A.N. Blanton of Suffolk. Since that catch, a 96-pounder has been caught by John Johnson of Moyack, N.C.

Some big black drum were again boated at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, although the pace slowed from the hot action experienced earlier in the month.
