PRESTON BATTLE JR.

{LEAD} Preston Battle Jr., 52, of the 900 block of Robinson Road, died June 25, 1994, in his residence.

He was born in Southampton County, Va., and was a member of New First Baptist Church, Portsmouth. He had served in the Air Force.

{REST} Survivors include his wife, Gloria J. Battle; one daughter, Tammerria A. Battle; two sons, Terrance L. Battle and Eric P. Battle; his mother, Annie L. Battle; and his father, Preston Battle Sr., all of Portsmouth; two brothers, Elus L. Battle of Portsmouth and Robert S. Battle of Chesapeake; two sisters-in-law, Cynthia L. Battle of Portsmouth and Gwendolyn Battle of Chesapeake; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in New First Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by Dr. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Serenity Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 910 Robinson Road, Portsmouth, at 12:15 p.m. Thursday for the processional to the church.
