Mr. Chapman was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and was a member of Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel. He was retired from the U.S. Navy as a CPO with 20 years of service and was a veteran of World War II and Korea.
{REST} He was also retired athletic director and coach at Norfolk Collegiate High School and was lately working at Eagle Haven Golf Course on the base.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Dracos Chapman; two daughters, Peggy Walsh of Bucks County, Pa., and Terri L. Baker of Norfolk; one sister, Coleen Skinner of Deland, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel by Father William Pitt. Burial will be private at a later date. The family will receive friends at Cape Henry Towers Wednesday following the service. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is handling arrangements.
