WEATHER MAY HAVE BEEN FACTOR IN CRASH THAT INJURED COUPLE

{LEAD} Stormy weather may have contributed to a car crash that seriously injured a married couple Monday on Princess Anne Road near the Municipal Center, police said.

Cesare Decinti, 71, and his wife, Luisa, 59, were taken to the Trauma Center at Virginia Beach General Hospital after Cesare lost control of the 1993 Lincoln luxury sedan he was driving west on Princess Anne Road near Seaboard Road, police spokesman Mike Carey said. The car veered off the two-lane road to the right, Carey said, and Decinti may have overcorrected. The car crossed through the opposing lane and plowed into a ditch. It then flipped and struck a stand of trees.

{REST} No other vehicles were involved in the accident, which happened shortly after 5 p.m. Luisa Decinti was pinned in the wreckage about an hour.

Police investigator Scott Roughton said rough weather may have been a factor in the crash.

The Decintis, of the 2400 block of Smoke House Road, are listed in serious condition, Carey said.

Apparently neither was wearing a seatbelt, Carey said. Alcohol was not a factor.
