Mr. Brogdon was born in Pitts, Ga. He resided in Norfolk, Va., for 28 years. Mr. Brogdon introduced photo setting to The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star in 1957. He worked for the newspapers for six years, then retired. He had also worked for Gregory Realty. Mr. Brogdon was a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite, a member of Khedive Temple in Norfolk and a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He attended Dewy Rose Baptist Church.
{REST} He is survived by his daughter, Helen Brogdon Bourne of Portsmouth, Va.; two brothers, Julian Parr Brogdon of Hazelhurst, Ga. and James Lamar Brogdon of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Myrtice Roobin and Evelyn Clarke, both of Cordele, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The family will meet at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Vance Smith at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, on Friday at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital or a charity of choice.
