2-MONTH-OLD GIRL INJURED IN WRECK IN NAGS HEAD

{LEAD} A two-month-old Engelhard child was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident on N.C. Route 12 near the Bonner Street intersection in Nags Head at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The child, Hannah G. VanSalisbury, was transported from Outer Banks Medical Center to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was then transferred to Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk and was listed in serious condition in intensive care Tuesday night.

{REST} The child's mother, Claudia D. VanSalisbury, 26, of Engelhard, as well as the driver of the other vehicle, Bradley W. Brickhouse, 28, of Columbia, were listed in good condition at Outer Banks Medical Center early Tuesday evening.

According to Nags Head Police Chief Lonnie Dickens, Claudia VanSalisbury has been charged with a child-restraint violation, a seatbelt violation and illegal passing. Patrolman Kelly Jones investigated the accident.

Apparently, VanSalisbury attempted to pass another vehicle on the two-lane, oceanfront road, police say. She hit Brickhouse head-on. No charges were filed against Brickhouse.
