MURIEL C. HUNTER

{LEAD} Muriel Craven Hunter, 96, died Wednesday morning at home.

Mrs. Hunter was the widow of Robert Lee Hunter. She was born on Dec. 9, 1897 in Mount Airy, N.C., the daughter of the Rev. Rufus Clarkson Craven and Valeria Case Craven.

{REST} Mrs. Hunter is survived by her daughter, Emily Hunter Slingluff, and by a son, Robert Lee Hunter Jr. of Topanga, Calif. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Dr. Craig Lee Slingluff Jr. of Charlottesville, Mary Slingluff Ill of Atlanta and Robert Lee Hunter III of Charlotte, N.C.; three great-grandchildren; and a niece, Muriel Elliott of Raleigh, N.C.

Mrs. Hunter was a graduate of Randolph Macon Woman's College, class of 1908. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Norfolk. She was formerly very active in many cultural and civic activities in Norfolk and, at the time of her death, was a member of the Garden Club of Norfolk.

A graveside service for the family will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Warrenton, N.C. today. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
