Mr. Marshall spent most of his life in the Norfolk area, returning to Danville three years ago. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the National Weather Service for 38 years as a meteorologist and with the National Aeronautical and Space Administration for 1 1/2 years in the same position. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Marshall was a member of the Atlantic Masonic Lodge (NU)2, AF&AM and the Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
{REST} Survivors include his wife, Frances Bliss Marshall; a daughter, Sandra M. Dorsey of the Mount Hermon community; a son, James R. Marshall of the Tunstall community; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Fulton Marshall, and father, Raleigh E. Marshall.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel, by the Rev. Lewis P. Harris. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at 515 Afton Road, Danville. The family suggests memorials may be made to Woodberry Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, 617 Audubon Drive, Danville, Va. 24540.
