HESTER M. JAMES

{LEAD} Hester Mae James of the 100 block of Burford Ave. died June 28, 1994.

Mrs. James was born in Princess Anne County. She was a member of St. Stephen COGIC, Virginia Beach, and Choir (NU)2. She was founder of the Saturday Night Prayer Band and guitarist for The Open Heart Gospel Singers.

{REST} Survivors include her husband, Bernard James Sr.; two daughters, Dianne James and Margie Forbes; one son, Bernard James Jr.; and one sister, Thelma Benjamin, all of Virginia Beach; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in St. Stephen COGIC by Bishop Ted Thomas Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Community Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel, is handling arrangements.
