FREDERICK MAPSTONE

Frederick ``Bud'' Mapstone, 73, of the 3400 block of Plainsman Trail, a retired U.S. Navy aviation chief navigator, died June 28, 1994, in Norfolk.

Mr. Mapstone was born in Mound, Minn. He retired from the Navy with 30 years of service. He attended St. Francis Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Fleet Reserve.

Survivors include one daughter, Tommy Ruth Blair of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Fred Mapstone Jr. of Virginia Beach and David Leon Mapstone of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, David Mapstone of Memphis, Tenn., and ``Mac'' Mapstone of Boca Raton, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Clayton Crigger. The family will receive friends at Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The family will assemble at the funeral home and process to the cemetery.
