DON'T SUPPRESS RELIGIOUS EXPRESSION

Don Feder's column June 14 on the religion-free workplace is right on.

The idea, espoused by the bureaucrats at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, that religious expression should be stopped if it is or might be deemed ``offensive'' by someone shows a complete misunderstanding of our constitutional guarantees.

Those guarantees were adopted because speech and religious expression that someone deemed offensive were being suppressed. The only time they are needed is when someone finds speech or religious expression offensive and tries to suppress it.

If we are going to suppress all speech and religious expression that someone might find offensive, we might as well close all our churches and synagogues, shut down all political campaigns, shut down all radio, TV, movies and newspapers, and close down our universities.
