Your June 19 front-page headline identifies O.J. Simpson as an ``American hero.''
To place Simpson in the same category with people like Nathan Hale, John Paul Jones, Daniel Boone, Alvin York, Colin P. Kelley, Medal of Honor winners and other such American heroes is simply incorrect.
O.J. Simpson can be classified as an American football hero. We, as Americans, recognize our sports heroes through various organizations and shrines such as Halls of Fame.
However, let us not put sports heroes on pedestals where they do not belong!
