CHARLENE S. RICHARDSON

Charlene Spencer Richardson, 36, of the 1400 block of Gabriel Drive, a beauty shop owner and operator, died Friday, July 1, 1994, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Richardson was a native of Norfolk and the daughter of the late Irving and Blanch Robinson Spencer. Mrs. Richardson operated two beauty shops in Norfolk with the last one located at Richardson Adult Care on 28th Street in Norfolk. She was a dedicated member of Olive Grove Baptist Church and sang in the Gospel choir. She was predeceased by a brother, Reginald L. Spencer.

She was formerly married to Leon Richardson of Norfolk, who still remains a devoted friend.

Survivors include four sisters, Delores R. Dunbar of Philadelphia, Brenda D. Spencer, Deborah Y. Spencer and Jeanette R. Spencer, all of the local area; a brother, Irving B. Spencer Jr.; four aunts, Cora Lee Spencer, Dorothy Smith and Louise Pollard and Lorraine Frisby; cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

She will also be missed by a devoted friend Arlene Harrell whose daughter Raniesha Danill was her god-daughter.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Olive Grove Baptist Church, 1034 Albert Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. Harry A. Davis. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. in Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. and at her residence, 1462 Gabriel Drive, No. 62 in the River Oaks section.
