Elsie M. Moore, 61, of the 800 block of Hamilton Ave., died July 1, 1994, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.
Mrs. Moore was born in Franklin. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and was a former member of the Nurses Unit and a member of Usher Board 1. She was past worthy matron of Gardenia Chapter 10; A.A.S.R. International Jurisdiction; grand officer of Electra Grand Chapter, O.E.S.; and M.W.V.G.M. of Makeda Court 1, Daughters of Sphinx.
Survivors include her husband, George Moore; four daughters, Dorothy Moore, Elsie Hairston, Michelle Washington and Cassandra Moore, all of Portsmouth; four sons, George Moore III, Anthony Moore, Darrell Moore and Eric Moore, all of Portsmouth; her mother, Beatrice Whitehead of Portsmouth; three sisters, Sarah Taylor of Portsmouth, Barbara Sykes of Chesapeake and Gladys Whitehead of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, Junnie B. Whitehead Jr. of Norfolk; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Mount Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. W.S. Hampton. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Corprew Funeral Home. Fraternal services will begin at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
