James Porter ``J.P.'' Daughtrey Jr., 69, of the 1000 block of MacArthur Drive, retired owner of Daughtrey's Grocery Store, died July 4, 1994, in Obici Hospital.
Mr. Daughtrey was born in Nansemond County, Va. He was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church, Travelers Protective Association Post P, and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Betty ``Jean'' Holland Daughtrey; one son, James Porter Daughtrey III of Suffolk; one granddaughter, Sara K. Daughtrey of Suffolk; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lucy Mae Holland Daughtrey and James Porter Daughtrey.
A funeral will be conducted at 2p.m. Wednesday in Wilroy Baptist Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. Carter Dey. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today in Hill Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Wilroy Baptist Church, 306 Williams Road, Suffolk, Va. 23434.
