Walter S. Williamson, 79, of Norfolk and formerly of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, July 2, 1994, in the Veterans Medical Center, Salem, Va.
He was retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad as an electric welder with 38 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Atlantic and Pacific. He was also a member of the American Legion Federal Post (NU)60 in Norfolk.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Frances Cox Williamson; daughter and son-in-law, Shelby J. and James F. Bauer of Ventura, Calif.; son, Rickie L. Williamson of Norfolk; five grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Eugene P. Williamson of Roanoke; two sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Burial Park with the Rev. Bill Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
