JAMES R. BANKS SR.

James Ruppert Banks Sr., 73, of 2412 Locust Grove Lane, died Friday, July 2, 1994, in Virginia Beach General Hospital. He was a native of Durants Neck, N.C., and was a retired self-employed contractor of roofing and siding. He was the loving husband of Anne Gorey Banks. He was a Navy veteran of World War II; was Past Master of Wyoming - Lily Masonic Lodge in Bronx, N.Y.; for the past several years he has been the installation officer of Hugonaut Lodge in Westchester, N.Y.; was the past Grand Stewart of the Grand Lodge of New York; a member of Kismet Shrine Temple in Hicksville, N.Y.; a member of Virginia Beach Masonic Lodge 274 A.F. & A.M.; Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies; Khedive Temple A.A.O.N.M.S.; and the Virginia Beach Shrine Club.

In addition to his wife Anne, he is survived by five daughters, Barbara Lipsky of Augusta, Ga., Virginia Grabowski of Branchville, N.J., Susan Brosnahan of Accord, N.Y., Diane Dee Haberdash of Virginia Beach, Betty Ann Klepper of Montvale, N.J.; one son, James R. Banks Jr. of Berkley Heights, N.J.; one sister, Vida Pritchard of Weeksville, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends in the Maestas Funeral Home Baltic Avenue Chapel Wednesday from 3 until 9 p.m. Masonic rites will be accorded in the funeral home at 8 p.m. The body will be taken to the Bible Funeral Home in the Bronx, N.Y. Burial will be in Washington Memorial Park, Paramies, N.J. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to the Masonic Brotherhood Fund, c/o The Grand Lodge of New York, 71 West 23rd St., New York, N.Y. 10010 or to the Hospital Fund, c/o Kismet Shrine Temple, 115 Lakeville Road, Hicksville, N.Y. 11040.
