Avalon Elouise Duncan, ``Snookie,'' 54, of Norfolk, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died unexpectedly, Sunday, July 3, 1994.
Born Avalon Elouise Garrison to Loma Bowyer-Garrison and Vellow Ollie Garrison, she grew up at 30th St. in Norfolk and attended Maury High School. She married Charles William Duncan on Dec. 6, 1957, and together they raised three children. She was employed as a checker for Pantry Pride supermarket on Tidewater Drive for many years and became one of that store's most highly respected employees.
She is survived by her husband, Charles William Duncan of Norfolk; two sons, Charles Willie Duncan of Norfolk, Orville Tootie Duncan of Chesapeake; one daughter, Josephine Annette Holland of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, Tasha, 13 years, Chasity, 11 years, Kristina, six years, Joshua, five years, Charles Brandon, two years and Tiffany, one year. She was one of six children-her brother Lane Garrison and sisters, Velloma Davis, Mozelle Lambert, Dahline Hilton and Jo Lagreen Harris.
Avalon was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a kind warm-hearted and caring person. She will be lovingly missed.
The funeral will be conducted at 2p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 1994, in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Terry Morris. The family will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
