LAURA B. FRYE

Laura Barnes Frye, 87, of the Crittenden section of Suffolk and formerly of Portsmouth, died July 5, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mrs. Frye, a native of Norfolk, was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Parker Barnes and John R. Barnes Sr. She was the widow of John T. Frye and a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Crittenden. She had retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda F. Brown of Chesterfield, Va.; two sons, James E. Braithwaite of Jacksonville, Fla. and William H. Braithwaite of Portsmouth; one stepson, John T. Frye Jr. of South Beloit, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Barbee of Portsmouth and Ruth Marino of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; four brothers, John R. Barnes Jr. of Pompano Beach, Fla., Roy G. Barnes Sr. and Jack P. Barnes, both of Portsmouth, and Harold K. Barnes of La Marque, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Carl J. LeMon. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and other times at 204 Monitor Road, Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Martha Davis Cancer Treatment Center.
