HAMPTON C. BARBER SR.

Hampton C. Barber Sr., 72, of 2200 Kings Highway, died Tuesday, July 5, 1994, in Obici Hospital.

A native of Bayside, Texas, he was the son of the late Amos A. Barber and Evalina Palmer Barber. Mr. Barber retired from Alcoa as an electrical engineer. He was a World War II fighter pilot and instructor with the Air Force. He was a former scout master in Aransas Pass, Texas, and the former mayor of Point Comfort, Texas. Mr. Barber was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ann E. Barber; one daughter, Cheryl Ann Johnson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two sons, Hampton C. Barber Jr. and Martin Barber, both of Suffolk; one sister, Zella Higginbotham of Farmington, N.M.; one brother, B.B. Barber of Copperas Cove, Texas; six grandchildren, Hampton C. Barber III, Leigh Ann Hudson, David Johnson Jr., Sara Barber, Michael Barber and Kimberly Barber; and one great-grandson, Ryan Hudson.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. James R. Noland. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at 2200 Kings Highway. Memorial donations may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
