George R. Finney, 66, of the 2000 block of Angora Drive, died July 5, 1994, in his residence.
Mr. Finney was born in Parksley, Va. He retired as a command sergeant major in the U.S. Army after 29 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Finney; three daughters, Lynn Phelps of Chesapeake, Beth Otten and husband, David, of Loveland, Colo., and Karen Schlenk and husband, Matt, of Spring Lake, N.C.; two sons, Butch Davis and wife, Brenda, of Colonial Heights, Va., and Mike Davis and wife, Julie, of Chesapeake; and 20 grandchildren.
A graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by Pastor Carroll Hurley. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today.
