A June 26 Another View written by David Clive surfaced once again a common misunderstanding of the Bible and people who believe in it.
Mr. Clive writes ``The Bible is a fascinating tale, but let us not forget that the folks who wrote it were also fully convinced that if you traveled far enough in any one direction you would fall off the end of the Earth.''
It is true that men and women of ancient times did believe the Earth was flat, but the men who ``penned'' the Bible did not originate the words themselves. God, who created them, knew his Earth was round, and it is stated several times in the Old Testament. See Isaiah 40:22, Proverbs 8:27, Job 26:10.
Luke 17:34-36 speaks of being day in some places and night in others when Jesus returns; thus a round Earth.
It is my sincere hope that these Scriptures will help you see the Bible in a new light.
