Annie Mae Bowers, 66, of the 1400 block of Blythewood Lane, died July 4, 1994 in her residence.
Mrs. Bowers, a native of Halifax, N.C., was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Bowers; father, Synia Wiggins and mother, Gertrude Williams Wiggins. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, Lewiston, N.C.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy M. Kearney of Virginia Beach and Miss Bertha Bowers of Suffolk; one son, Lonnie Bowers of Suffolk; one stepson, Samuel Thomas of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five sisters, Mrs. Minnie Mitchell of Scotland Neck, N.C., Mrs. Ruth Williams and Mrs. LaVerne Cobb, both of Hampton, Mrs. Eula Power of Oak City, N.C., and Mrs. Essie Williams of Buffalo, N.Y.; four brothers, Dave Ridley of Oak City, N.C., Henry Ridley of Suffolk, James Wiggins of Norwalk, Conn., and Cynia Wiggins of Newport News; one aunt, Mrs. Edith Claire Russell of Lewiston, N.C.; one great aunt, Mrs. Sarah Jones of Portsmouth; 12 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral will be held Friday, July 8, at 1 p.m. in New Hope Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Sidney Foster. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
