ELIZABETH G. PHIBBS

Elizabeth G. Phibbs was born September 3, 1906 and died July 6, 1994.

She was the widow of Dexter E. Phibbs. Mrs. Phibbs was the second of seven children born to Lawrence and Sevina Gobroski of Welch, W.Va.

Mrs. Phibbs taught fourth grade for 42 years in the old Norfolk County, South Norfolk and in the Norfolk School Systems. She was active in the local, state and national teachers' associations and held several offices in these organizations. Mrs. Phibbs attended Concord College in Athens, W.Va., and was a graduate of Longwood College. She was a Roman Catholic and parishoner at St. Matthew's Church.

She leaves two brothers, Joseph Gobroski of Galveston, Texas and Lawrence Gobroski of Reno, Nev.; she leaves her sisters, Dorothy Reip of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Agnes Maroney of Beaumont, Texas. She is survived by two sons, Dexter E. Phibbs, II, Carrollton, Va. and Joe C. Phibbs of Chesapeake. She is the grandmother of five grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Mountain Plains Cemetery in Carroll County, Va.
