Elton Cortez Hobbs, 86, of the 6200 block of Wailes Ave., a retired construction superintendent, passed away peacefully at his residence on July 7, 1994.
Mr. Hobbs was born in Hobbsville, N.C., and retired in 1973. He was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church and Local Union (NU)613 Carpenters and Joiners of America.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Copeland Hobbs; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Ginger Hobbs of Portsmouth; a sister, May Belle Chappell of Belvedere, N.C.; three brothers, Hight Hobbs of Hobbsville, N.C., Elliot Hobbs of Elizabeth City and Paige Hobbs of Hertford, N.C.; three granddaughters, Kathryn Sims and her husband, Fred, of Chesapeake, Kimberly Hobbs of Portsmouth and Angela Hobbs of Portsmouth; and one great-grandson, Andrew Sims of Chesapeake.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by the Rev. Ronald L. Philbrick. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence.
