Shaheen Malkamy, a 21-year-old former part-time Old Dominion University student charged with malicious wounding in the stabbing of his calculus teacher, was ordered kept in jail without bail Thursday at an arraignment.
Malkamy allegedly stabbed calculus instructor Carl Panetta, 28, with a steak knife during a Wednesday morning class at the university. Panetta received 12 stitches to close the wound at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He is home and resting.
ODU officials said Thursday the case is still under investigation and no motive is known.
