Six teenagers were injured Thursday, two of them seriously, when the car they were in overturned near the toll plaza on the Virginia Beach-Norfolk Expressway.
State police said the car was heading west in the left lane when a mechanical problem apparently caused the driver to lose control.
The car hit a median wall and flipped. The driver, a 16-year-old girl, and a 13-year-old boy who was sitting behind her were thrown from the car. None of the youths was wearing a seat belt, police said.
The injured, whose names were not released, were taken to three area hospitals. Four of them were expected to be treated and released.
