The Cock Island Race will celebrate its seventh birthday Friday and Saturday on the Portsmouth waterfront.
The Cock Island Race, sanctioned by the Cruising Club of Virginia, drew more than 300 sailboats last year.
Eligible classes include all PHRF and Cruising. A special non-spinaker cruising class is open to all non-measured yachts whose skippers have not raced in one year.
Along with the race, a street dance and musical entertainment are planned. No Small Feet will perform on the Water Stage at 4 p.m. Friday, followed by Ernie Le Beau and the Beach Blasters under the tent at 7 p.m.
Dramtreeo will perform on the Water Stage at 4 p.m. Saturday followed by street dancing with Bill Deal and Fat Ammon at 7 p.m.
