Lt. Col. Oliver North was selected by an elite group of Republicans during a convention and not elected by all Republicans in a primary. The Virginia GOP may want to say that the state Republicans have chosen Mr. North, but the truth is that a disservice was done to the public on his selection.
I strongly encourage the Republican Party of Virginia to think twice about casting Sen. John Warner and Marshall Coleman out of the party. Remember the job of a senator is to serve all people of his state, both Republicans and Democrats. If a senator becomes a puppet for the party, then he is not doing his job.
Mr. Warner has served his constituency well and should be allowed to continue, even if it ruffles the feathers of the upper echelons of the party.
