It was excellent of you to publish the Declaration of Independence on July 4. To some of us (in the minority, I feel) it was a reminder to appreciate and be grateful for living in the United States - to be grateful for those men who ``pledged their Lives, their Fortunes, and their Sacred Honor,'' that we have freedom. It is a reminder also to acknowledge and be grateful for the ones in past and present conflicts who gave of themselves to preserve what we've gotten.
Having been in business many years, I can say that the 4th of July (and other holidays) are not days to ``rake it all in,'' or to ``go and get 'em 'cause this day will be over fast,'' as businesses are doing now, with not a thought given to God, country or freedom.
We've fallen a long way as a people.
