Doris Marie Howard, 63, a resident of Annapolis since 1969, died Sunday, July 10, 1994 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief respiratory complication.
She was born in Washington, D.C. and was a 1949 graduate of Anacostia High School, Washington, D.C. The recipient of numerous awards for bowling at league, local, state and national levels, she has been secretary for the Maryland State Women's Bowling Association since 1982. A member of the Maryland State Women's Bowling Hall of Fame, she was also nominated to the Severna Park Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame, and had served as a past secretary for that organization.
Mrs. Howard attended Eastport United Methodist Church. She participated in cross stitching, ceramics and camping activities.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Edward Howard; two daughters, Denise Marie Yepsen of Annapolis and Doreen Lynn Shahan of Pasadena, Md.; a son, Dean Edward Howard of Virginia Beach; and one sister, Lavonne Howard of Glen Burnie, Md.
Funeral services will be held July 14 at 10 a.m. in Heritage Baptist Church, 1740 Forest Dr., Annapolis, Md. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, Md.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 30 E. Padonia Rd., Baltimore, Md. 21093. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hardesty Funeral Home P.A., 12 Ridgley Ave., Annapolis, Md. 21401.
