ELVIN J. THICK

Elvin Jean Thick, 68, of the 300 block of Compaz Road, died July 10, 1994, in his residence.

Mr. Thick was a native of Pigeon, Mich., son of Altha Conger Thick of Bay Port, Mich., and the late Dave Thick Sr. He was the widower of Betty M. Thick. He retired from the U.S. Navy and from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 56. He served his country well and he loved all peoples and gave continuously to other people. He loved his dog, Cheltsa. He will be missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Emily H. and Darrell H. Raymond of Chesapeake; three brothers and their wives, Robert and Anne Thick of Bay Port, Mich., Donald and Joyce Thick of Caseville, Mich., and Morris and Vi Thick of Michigan; three sisters-in-law, Marge Thick of Bay Port, Hazel White of Virginia Beach and Mary White of Aulander, N.C.; one brother-in-law, J.F. White of Virginia Beach; and three grandchildren and their spouses, John and Deborah Edmonds, Susan E. and William Carlile and Lauren G. Edmonds; and three great-grandchildren, Jessica Carlile, Kristen Carlile and John Raymond.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
