ANDREW LITTLEJOHN

Andrew Littlejohn, 52, of Cedar Lake Shores, passed away July 10, 1994.

He was a native of Suffolk and a graduate of Booker T. Washington School, Suffolk. He received his bachelor of science degree in social sciences from Elizabeth City State University and master of arts degree in health and physical education from Hampton University. As an educator, he formerly taught in the Isle of Wight County, Hampton and Newport News public school systems. Also, he was a coach and an instructor at Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C. He was currently employed as a teacher by the Suffolk City Public School System at Lakeland High School.

He was a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church, where he served in the Male Chorus. Other affiliations include Education Association of Suffolk, National Education Association, Virginia Education Association, Suffolk Booster Club, Alpha Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Mount Vernon (NU)48, F & AM, Prince Hall Affiliation.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Blowe Littlejohn and a son, Carlos Andrew Littlejohn of Suffolk; his mother, Gertie M. Broughton and his stepfather, Joseph Broughton of Suffolk; a sister, Ruth Stancell of Suffolk; a brother, Joseph Broughton Jr. of Virginia Beach; two godchildren, Kerrita Mayfield of Connecticut and Vincent Clark Jr. of Zuni; uncle, James T. Littlejohn of Suffolk; aunt, Elizabeth Pitt of Suffolk; brothers and sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Metropolitan Baptist Church, Suffolk, by Dr. Melvin R. Boone. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The body will be placed in church at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Crocker Funeral Home by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
