Shirley Powell McEvoy, 78, of the 4200 block of Bonney Road, a retired school teacher, died July 10, 1994, in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. McEvoy was born in Norfolk. She had retired from Virginia Beach Public Schools. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and the Young at Heart Club of St. Nicholas. She was preceded in death by a son, James McEvoy Jr.
Survivors include her husband, James McEvoy Sr. of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Kay McEvoy Baigert of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Lisa Ann Baigert and Michael John Baigert Jr., both of Virginia Beach; and a son-in-law, Michael John Baigert of Virginia Beach.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Nicholas Catholic Church by Fr. Tim Hogan. Burial will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park. A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, where the family will remain until 8 p.m. to receive friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
