CONCERT TO FEATURE CLASSIC ROCK FIRESTAR OFFERS TUNES OF THE EARLY 1970S, RHYTHM 'N' BLUES AND HOT NEW COUNTRY.

Every other Thursday, the nighttime sidewalks are left unrolled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. - long enough for some dancing in the streets.

Tonight is the night for FireStar, a band that offers the classic rock of the early 1970s, rhythm 'n' blues and hot new country.

Examples? Well, FireStar covers such artists as the Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Eagles, Garth Brooks and Travis Tritt.

The last two gents are country, all right, but there is a lot of rocking involved.

FireStar members were mere lads in the '70s, when Southern rock 'n' roll was born. Now, as young men of the '90s, they are long-haired and clean-cut, a combination that should appeal to parents and kids.

Most importantly, all four band members are lead-singing attention-getters. If they don't have the lead, they always get involved with the background harmony.

Either way, for the listener it is a win-win proposition.

If you are not involved in listening or dancing, you will find plenty to eat and drink during the ``We Be Jammin' Thursdays'' event sponsored by the Franklin Downtown Business Association.

Oh - bring a lawn chair and/or blanket.

And, behave - ABC regulations are strictly enforced. MEMO: ``We Be Jammin' Thursdays'' presents music by FireStar from 5:30 to 8:30

p.m. tonight at South Main Street in downtown Franklin on the bulkhead

adjacent to Be-Lo. The free event is sponsored by the Franklin Downtown

Business Association.
