Walter Gustav Olsen, 96, died Monday, July 11, 1994, in Edenton.
Mr. Olsen was born June 27, 1898, in New Haven, Conn., the son of Edwin and Othilie (Larsen) Olsen who emigrated from Drammen, Norway. He was a graduate of New Britain (Conn.) High School and lived in New Britain, Maine, New Hampshire, Newington (30 years), Florida and Edenton. He was a member of the Church of Christ Congregational in Newington, a 32nd degree Mason of Sequin Lodge AF&AM, Newington, the American Legion and World War I Veterans Association. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War I aboard the Aramis and the USS New Jersey. Mr. Olsen was district sales manager for New England for Easy Washer Corp. for 40 years.
Mr. Olsen was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Minnie Carlson in 1979.
He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Warren (Marilyn) Hibbard of Edenton and Mrs. George P. (Barbara) Lukens Jr. of Glastonbury, Conn.; a sister, Edna Iversen of Hamden, Conn.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in the Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill, Conn., at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the Barium Springs Home for Children, Barium Springs, N.C. 28010. Williford-Barham Funeral Home, Edenton, is in charge of arrangements.
