Oberia Walker Blassingham, affectionately known as ``Mom B'' to her grandchildren and friends, died at age 96 on Tuesday, July 12, 1994 in a Norfolk hospital.
She was a resident of the 1200 block of N. Fairwater Drive in Norfolk, as well as a former resident of Sandbridge. She was the widow of Mr. James Harold Blassingham Sr.
Mrs. Blassingham was a native of Creswell, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Eolus Fay and Mary Anne Norman Walker. She was a member of Ghent United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Edgewater Garden Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen N. van Daalen of Bethesda, Md.; a son, James H. Blassingham Jr., and daughter-in-law, Peggy Blassingham, of Norfolk; five grandchildren, Judy B. Shrewsbury, James H. Blassingham III, both of Norfolk, Jonathan van Daalen of Virginia Beach, David van Daalen of Hyattsville, Md., and Stephanie O'Neill of Richmond; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Harold E. Thornton. The family will gather at Cox Funeral Home on Friday night from 7 until 8 p.m. for visitation.
