C. RANDOLPH GATLING

C. Randolph Gatling, 82, of the 600 block of Shenandoah St., died Thursday, July 14, 1994 in a Norfolk hospital.

Mr. Gatling was raised in Norfolk and moved to Portsmouth over 35 years ago. He retired as a plant manager for Rogers Manufacturing Co., and was known in Portsmouth as the ``Neighborhood Handyman.''

Mr. Gatling was a member of Westhaven Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons, and was formerly a long time member of Park Place Baptist Church in Norfolk. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Lewis Gatling; two daughters, Dorothy G. Russell of Virginia Beach and Catherine G. Worley of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, James R. Gatling and Richard B. Gatling, both of Chesapeake; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Foster Funeral Home by the Rev. Thomas W. Wood. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at his home. Memorial donations may be made to Westhaven Baptist Church, Caroline Ave. and King St., Portsmouth, Va. 23707.
