EDWARD S. STAMMER

Edward Swanson Stammer, 74, of the 100 block of Robin Lane, a retired U.S. Navy lieutenant commander, died July 13, 1994, in Obici Hospital.

Lt. Cmdr. Stammer was born in Chapel Hill, Tenn., son of the late EdS. and Maggie Cromer Stammer. He retired from the Navy on Aug. 1, 1968 after 29 1/2 years. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea and a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, M. Ellen Frolio Stammer; two daughters, Kandie S. Galliant of Red Bluff, Calif. and Kathy S. Chole of Cupertino, Calif.; one son, Larry Bob Stammer of Los Angeles; three grandchildren, Jason Galliant, Julie Black and Cheryl Stammer; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Black and Michael Clayton Black.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 18, in St. Paul's Episcopal Church by the Rev. H. Vance Mann. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends at Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday and suggests in lieu of flowers, that donations may be made to the Tidewater Substance Abuse Services, 1500 E. Little Creek Road, Norfolk, Va. 23518.
